EE FOR WEMBLEY

Wembley have confirmed a sponsorship deal with communications group EE, but it will not include naming rights for the stadium.
The six-year multi-million pound investment will see Wembley the most connected stadium in the world, with enhanced mobile network access, ticketing, and super-fast WiFi.
The deal also includes a free app for all visitors.

CONSETT NEW GROUND OPENS

Northern League Consett have moved into their new Belle View ground.
Replacing the former Belle Vue, home since 1950, facilities include a 3G pitch, community pitches and changing rooms, and a bar/function room.
Situated on Delves Lane, the inaugural match v Newcastle United reserves attracted a crowd of around 1,500.

ETIHAD WORKS TO COMMENCE

The two-phase expansion of Manchester City's Etihad stadium will commence with immediate effect.
The South stand will be redeveloped first increasing capacity to 54,000, followed by work on the North stand which will see a ground capacity of over 60,000, the second highest in England.
City moved to the then 38,000 capacity stadium in 2003.

REDS CONFIRM ANFIELD REDEVELOPMENT

Liverpool have confirmed the redevelopment of Anfield, with plans to increase capacity to around 58,000.
The first phase will see the main stand expanded to three-tiers, with a further development of the Anfield Road stand.
The club are hoping the work can be completed for the start of the 2016/17 season.

NATIONAL FOOTBALL MUSEUM
Manchester

The National Football Museum in Manchester is a must-see attraction for any football supporter.
Located in the stunning Urbis building next to Victoria Station, the museum displays the history and changing face of the game in a fascinating series of exhibits and galleries.
Spread over four floors, the permanent displays include the origins and laws that started football, the competitions, players, fans, trophies, and clubs that have developed over the years.
On level one you will find an interesting display on stadiums and ground development.
Level three is the venue for the museum's changing exhibitions, recently featuring superb displays for the 125 years of both The Football League and The North-East based Northern League.
Football Plus+ on Level two is an interactive experience where you can try your hand at a penalty shootout, lift a trophy, or attempt a football commentary.
There is a charge for these activities and tickets can be bought from the Information Desk or any Museum Assistant.
Acclaimed photographer Stuart Clarke, formerly based in Ambleside, now has a permanent gallery in the Hall of Fame on the ground floor, where you will also find a pleasant cafe and well-stocked shop.
Entry is free, although donations are most welcome as the Museum is a registered charity.

Situated opposite Ibrox underground station, the Louden Tavern is probably the most famous Glasgow Rangers bar.
Recently extensively refurbished, the single room Louden is an aladdin's cave of Rangers photographs and memorabilia.
Numerous large screen TV's, and possibly the most Tennents lager pumps seen in a single establishment.

HAMMERS SELL THE BOLEYN GROUND

West Ham have confirmed the sale of the Boleyn Ground to a London Developer, once the move to the Olympic Stadium has been completed in 2016.
The regeneration plans for the Green Street site, incorporating a landscaped garden in honour of former West Ham and England captain Bobby Moore, include housing and leisure facilities.

EXPANSION PLANS FOR SIXFIELDS

Work has commenced on the redevelopment of Sixfields stadium, home of Northampton Town.
The East stand will be expanded and additional seating installed in other areas, with new dressing-rooms also being built in the West stand.
Around the stadium, a new hotel and housing will be created in a joint deal between the Club and Northampton Council.

LIONEL ROAD APPROVAL FOR BRENTFORD

Brentford are set to leave Griffin Park, their home since 1904, after planning permission was finally granted by the Secretary of State for Planning for the new Lionel Road scheme.
A new 20,00 seater all-seater stadium will be built, together with new housing and retail outlets in a £71 million project.
Work is expected to commence in the summer.


SKY BLUES COMMITTED TO NEW STADIUM

The owners of Coventry City have confirmed their commitment to building a new stadium, but at the same time not ruling out a return to the Ricoh Arena.
The Sky Blues, currently playing home games 35 miles away in Northampton, a move which has seen a dramatic reduction in attendances, have identified two possible sites for the new stadium within the City boundaries.

Jan Breydel Brugge

The Jan Breydel stadium in the beautiful Belgian city of Brugge ,shared home of Club and Cercle, is one of the most favoured destinations for Euro groundhoppers.
Olympiastadion, as it was originally known, opened in 1975 and was hugely re-developed for Euro 2000 when it staged three matches.
Located in the leafy Sint-Andries district 3km from the city centre and railway station, the current all-seater capacity is around 29,472. 
Club Brugge have been reported to be looking at sites in the city for a new stadium, but precise proposals for the relocation have yet to be unveiled.

With its medieval streets, fine architecture and picturesque canals, Brugge is a magnet for visitors from all over Europe and beyond.
The centre, being quite compact and with a flat terrain is ideal for walking, those who prefer heights can climb the 366 steps of the city's most famous landmark The Belfry.
As you would expect in Belgium the city is a beer lovers paradise, with a host of quaint bars serving a seemingly infinite number of brews.
The quality of food served in the numerous restaurants is exceptional, and don't forget to visit the chocolate shops!

Now back in the hands of local brewers Camerons after a period of closure,plenty of memorabilia to view in the bar and lounge.

SPURS NEW STADIUM COMPLEX TAKES SHAPE

The first phase of Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium complex has been completed, with the opening of a new Sainsbury's supermarket at the site.
The store, at the north end of the stadium scheme, is the retail Group's largest in London and has created over 200 jobs for the local area.

The land between the store and the current White Hart Lane will be the site for the new 56,000 capacity stadium, together with over 300 new homes, despite some opposition from local businesses and residents.
Haringey Council are also planning a Wembley-style pedestrian walkway to the new stadium.




MURRAYFIELD TO HOST THE BHOYS

With Celtic Park being used for the Commonwealth Games in July, and with qualification for next seaon's Champions League almost a formality, Celtic are expected to announce that the Murrayfield rugby union stadium in Edinburgh will host their matches.
Any request by the Club to play outside of Scotland would be rejected by UEFA.
The stadium has previously hosted Hearts 
                                             European home ties in 2004 and 2006.

SCARBOROUGH SET FOR RETURN TO TOWN

The return home for Scarborough Athletic has moved a step closer, with the local council agreeing to the building of a new community sports complex in the town.
The plans, part-financed by the sale of the former McCain Stadium, include the new ground, swimming pool, and floodlit multi-purpose sports area, and will see the club return from exile in Bridlington.

SAFE STANDING CAMPAIGN ESCALATES

The campaign to re-introduce terracing to the upper echelons of English football is gathering pace.
The Football League have agreed to lobby the government to allow safe-standing at grounds following consultation with member clubs.
Meanwhile, Bristol City have installed a small rail-seating section at Ashton Gate, initially for use only by new tenants Bristol Rugby Club.

STADIUM TOURS Hampden Park Glasgow

The recent transformation of Hampden Park has been quite remarkable, and the ideal way to view Scotland's National stadium is by taking the excellent tour.
Starting in the stadium's underground roadway, the tour moves into the changing rooms(all 6 of them!)via the indoor warm-up area.
The size and quality of the changing rooms and general player facilities are quite amazing, and its no surprise to learn from the tour guide that Hampden fulfils UEFA's top 5-star criteria.
The tour continues into the players tunnel then out into the arena, finishing with the Royal Box and trophy presentation area.
Inside the arena is equally as impressive, with banks of blue and red seating complimented by two huge crosses of St Andrew at each end of the ground.
Hampden is now a gleaming, modern arena with facilities to match any stadium in Europe.
As part of the Hampden Experince you can also visit the superb Scottish Football Museum situated inside the stadium.

No surprise that the decor is bright red, walls are adorned with(predominantly)

Entry charge of £1 on matchdays where a quick-serve bottle bar operates, you need to show a match/season ticket.
No real ale available.

ANFIELD REDEVELOPMENT PLANS UNVEILED

Liverpool remain committed to completing the redevelopment of Anfield.
The proposals, as part of a wider regeneration of the local area, would see redevelopment of both the Main and Anfield Road stands.
Subject to planing approval the club hope to complete the work, which would increase capacity to around 60,000, by 2018.

NEW STADIUM FOR THE IRON

Scunthorpe United hope to move into a new stadium for the start of the 2014/15 season.
The 12,000 capacity community project, which could include standing areas, is at an as yet undisclosed location near Glanford Park, the club's current home since 1988.
The scheme could also include 3 and 4G pitches, a hotel, offices, and restaurant.

PLANNING PERMISSION FOR CRAVEN COTTAGE

Fulham have received planning permission for the redevelopment of Craven Cottage, but as yet there is no time-scale for the work to commence.
The plans, which still require a River works Licence, would see the re-building of the Riverside Stand in a scheme which would provide a new walkway along the Thames, and a riverside cafe open to the public.

SPIDERS RELOCATE TO AIRDRIE

With redevelopment work for this year's Commonwealth Games continuing apace at Hampden Park, Queen's Park have switched home games to Airdrie's Excelsior Stadium until the end of 2014.
Queen's are unable to use Lesser Hampden, where the club have recently opened a superb new pavilion, as the ground is also required for the Games as an athletes warm-up venue.

Rural scene at Frenchfield, home of Northern League club Penrith

The National Football Museum in Manchester is staging an exhibition to mark    the 125th Anniversary of the Northern League, the world's 2nd oldest League.
  Running until Tuesday 22nd April 2014, the exhibition includes rare memorabilia  from the League and its famous Clubs, a selection of photographs by Roy Stuart Clarke, and the old FA Amateur Cup will also be on display.
